Curitiba museums & sights
Walking through Curitiba and watching the beautiful buildings from the 18th and 19th century feels like walking in a museum. The city is filled with sights like f.e.: Catedral Basilica Menor and Igreja de Sao Francisco (the oldest building in the city). The city was founded by the Portuguese in 1693 but got the name Curitiba in 1721. As mentioned before Curitiba itself is like a museum but the city is also packed with museums like: Museu da Imagem e do Som (Image and Sound Museum), Museu Metropolitano de Arte de Curitiba (Metropolitan Museum of Art in Curitiba), Oscar Niemeyer Museum and Museu de Arte Sacra (Religious Art Museum). A beautiful, fascinating quarter to visit is Bairro de Sao Francisco. |
